Description:
This is a fairly straightforward project - I have an Ubuntu installation that I have configured to work with my hardware. I need a linux installation that is cut down to a bare minimum to run Flashplayer 9 (to play Flash binary executables which I can only seem to get working in Wine). Flashplayer for Firefox or other browser is not a concern.
I need the machine to boot up directly into a full screen Flash executable. If Flashplayer does not require it, the system does not need any type of window manager or any other packages (except FTP and its required dependancies).
On bootup, before launching the Flash exe, the system needs to synch a pre-defined folder with an externally hosted folder to make sure its Flash files are up to date. A simple scriptable FTP service will do the trick.
A couple of bells and whistles like a custom boot image and a couple of 'first install' questions round out the requirements.
I'm new to Linux and am trying to determine whether to try to keep hacking at what I have or save the time and have someone hack it together for me.
I will provide the hardware with working installation (if it will make it easier). If I can find the right person to get this done, it will most likely lead to additional future projects.
Description:
Our client are looking to recruit a Senior Linux Systems Administrator/ Engineer who is able to demonstrate both operational and architectural understanding of the environment you support. The role will involve
installation, setup and maintenance of Debian/ GNU servers and associated infrastructure. I can´t stress how friendly and gadget-friendly the company is in words - what I can say is that the company are open source evangelists - many of whom contribute to source forge projects.
Description:
We are looking to recruit an experienced database administrator to support our developers. We need someone with a solid theoretical understanding of relational databases, along with the necessary practical experience tuning and administration.
You will also find that a good understanding of Unix-type systems is pretty essential, as most of our key data is processed on FreeBSD systems. However, you will have the support of other team members and you will not be required to work as a Unix administrator.
Experience with the systems we use is desirable but not absolutely essential.
Your duties:
• Manage PostgreSQL and SQL Server installations
• Take responsibility for the quality of our databases. We want our developers to focus on business logic and user interaction, so you will be required to assist in developing databases and reviewing work done on them by developers.
• Automate data import and transformation tasks. Data imports are key to our business, and it's critical that these operations are robust.
Technical skills required:
• PostgreSQL administration. You must be able to tune a Postgres installation for consistent performance. If you do not have Postgres experience, you must be able to show a deep understanding of something similar, including managing memory usage, optimiser settings, table storage etc.
• Unix administration (preferably FreeBSD). We are recruiting a Senior Unix/Network Administrator who will be available to support you on this.
• Experience managing business data. Most of the work you will do will require some understanding of the business behind our data.
Personal skills required:
• Good time management and prioritisation.
• High standards. We want someone who takes pride in the integrity of our systems and data.
• Forward-thinking. We need someone who can identify weaknesses in our infrastructure, recommend appropriate solutions and fix them seamlessly before they cause us problems.
• Good communication skills. You will have to work with most people in our team, as databases are so fundamental to what we do. You must be enthusiastic about offering advice and ad-hoc training.
• Understanding of the needs of others.

Description:
We are currently looking for a FreeBSD Network / Web Services Admin for a short term (2-3 months?) contract to help us get our servers in order.
We currently maintain several FreeBSD servers at an off-site co-location facility. Boxes were added to our network as we expanded and as such, we would like to make sure that they are all performing as efficient as possible.
At the end of the contract we would like our servers to be in a position that they can be run and maintained with minimal effort from our internal team or handed off to a hosting company that will deal with the day-to-day management of them.
Think of this position as 'Home Make-Over'. The only difference is we're making over our server and sadly there will be no TV show based on your success :(
You're the expert, our servers need the make-over, work your magic.
