1. Job Purpose

2. Responsibilities
Tasks include integrating new functionality in the streaming server core, adding functionality to clustering software, and providing a web-based FrontEnd for managing and transcoding customers` VOD files.
The position will initially involve specific tasks to extend VoD and/or transcoding functionality in their software, but will later expand to be a full member of their core development group, involved in design and architecture of the streaming platform. Elisa is a free and open source media center working on Windows and Linux. The goal of the project is to provide software that lets the user enjoy their multimedia content in an easy and user-friendly way, on a television or on a computer monitor. It organizes the media collection and gives rapid access to watching videos, pictures, and listening to music while simultaneously interacting with contextual information and services. Elisa features a very animated, interactive user interface whose success depends on good usability and aesthetics.
On the technical side it relies on 3D hardware acceleration to provide inexpensive and fluid user experience. Although Elisa is written in Python it uses a handful of base libraries written in C, such as GStreamer for media playback, Pigment, its graphical engine, which in turn uses OpenGL to take advantage of the graphical hardware.

Job Responsibilities
The Lead Python Web Services Framework Architect will be responsible for maintenance and expansion of the Python Web Framework which powers the WordStream Suite of SaaS products. Day-to-day activities include:
Design and development of improvements to the Python-based software stack which our products are built upon
Implementation and management of distributed database systems
Development of system maintenance tools and processes
Design of processes for scaling the infrastructure
Design and implementation of an infrastructure management solution
