You will work with a very strong team building user interfaces used by millions of people each day.
Responsibilities

    * Implement and maintain user interfaces in LiveJournal and TypePad using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Perl.
    * Work closely with the design, product and engineering teams to deliver an excellent user experience on Six Apartβs services.

Required Experience and Skills

    * Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and W3C DOM.
    * Experience implementing standards-based web application user interfaces.
    * Ability to cleanly implement a UI across different browsers (IE6, Mozilla/Firefox, Safari).
    * Demonstrated understanding of how implementation choices impact user experience in terms of browser compatibility, accessibility and performance.
    * Ability to learn. Candidate must show they can adapt to the rapidly changing technology landscape.
    * Demonstrated understanding of how quality software is designed and constructed. We want you to think as much as you code.
    * Demonstrated willingness and ability to work and lead in a fast-moving dynamic team-oriented environment.
    * BS or MS in Computer Science or similar discipline, or equivalent experience
    * Great work ethic. On-time delivery of great features and content to Six Apartβs millions of users will depend on this candidateβs consistently strong performance.

Preferred Experience
While not required, we prefer candidates with as much of the following background as possible.

    * Knowledge of (and passion for) Six Apart's products and services.
    * Experience developing AJAX applications.
    * Experience integrating rich web interfaces with server-side code.
    * Experience in UI design and engineering of content-based applications such as blogs, photo albums, email, content management systems, etc.
    * Previous experience developing with open source technologies, such as Perl, mod_perl, Template::Toolkit and/or Mason.
    * Technologies: XML and Web Services; Internationalization.

<description>The Open Source Technology Center within the Software and Solutions Group is looking for senior software technical leads to develop new Linux middleware, applications, and user interface technologies. In this position, you are responsible to develop in the moblin.org open source environment on new Intel architectures that span Intel's mobile platforms, from ultra mobile (Mobile Internet Devices) to notebook and low cost desktop. Key technical focus areas include user interface, media, device management, telephony (phone applications), and integration with the rest of the platform in a way that is seamless and provides a high degree of usability. Positions require positive interaction with the Linux community to ensure code is developed in an acceptable manner and adopted in upstream community projects as appropriate. 
 
Qualifications 
You should possess a Master of Science degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with more than eight years experience. Additional qualifications include: 

- A strong background in Linux system design/development 
- Technical Depth: Deep knowledge in at least one key area of interest, for example, Kernel Software Development, Intel X86-based Architecture, OpenSource Development, Linux Device Drivers, Mobile Internet Devices, Telephony, Linux Distribution and Integration, GDK, OpenGL, and/or 3D Graphics Programming. 
- Excellent communication skills

This R+D position resides in our Core Technologies Group and will be a part of our Console Operating System and Applications team. The engineer in this role will gain exposure to many parts of our core OS and our applications. As a result of this exposure, he/she will interface with many groups in and outside of R+D. 

Responsibilities: 
This position's primary role is in the design and implementation of software for ESX installation, deployment and distribution. Work will involve interaction with product management and will require work with releases of new operating system versions, driver updates, and building Red Hat Package Management (RPM) packages. Most of the coding will be in done in Python with some limited use of Perl and C. 

Requirements: 
BS in Computer Science or equivalent. 
Fluent in the use of Python and other scripting languages. 
Experienced in Linux administration and configuration. 
Experience with RPM's. 
Experience building a Linux distribution or Linux rescue disk is preferred 
C and C++ programming is desirable. 
Experience with GTK or Glade a plus. 
Experience with YUM a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Highly motivated, self-directed, developer to serve in a technical capacity for both

object-oriented design and development of server-side software, including both data
processing, audio processing, and web services is required. The work involves a strong

application development and hardware level application domains.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions:

 Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle  requirements analysis,
development, testing, and implementation
 Participate in technical logic and design discussions
 Contribute to the development of custom code
 Contribute to the review and analysis of business requirements
 Create, maintain, and present technical documentation to different audiences and levels
 Regularly inform supervisor of development status
 Perform resource, technical and risk assessments
 Work with other development, architecture, and product development teams
 Work with 3rd party vendor on technical design/specifications, development, testing and
deployment to ensure the product meets company's requirements
 Develop and write computer programs under general supervision within specified in-house

 Prepare test data and tests programs to assure correctness of logic

 Responsible for program maintenance, reloading of files and job recovery
 Assist in the timely completion of assigned development projects
 Prepare required documentation, including project plans, software program, and user

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science or Math or equivalent industry
experience.
Experience: 3+ years Object Oriented programming experience - 3+ years C / C++
development. 2+ years of Java, Objective-C, C# or a modern scripting language (i.e. Ruby,
Python). References are required.
Skills + Abilities:

 Must possess ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
 Must be a team player who understands the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and

 Must be familiar with various UML diagrams and modeling techniques.
